Photo Essay
Narrative
The subject of the photo essay is nature and spring. Many of the images were taken at my home in Somerset Massachusetts. I chose this place because of the vegetation that can be found at my home, the flowers and trees and just the aura of the place caught my attention and it was the perfect place to see spring unraveling. The vast range of different textures and colors that were found at my home made me choose that location. I'm trying to portray the change of the season, were new life is created and plants start to grow and blossom. Spring is the season that I want to show in these images The Story of Spring is the concept that I'm going for. They captured the essay by showing flowers and green foliage that are associated with Spring which is when grass gets green again and flowers blossom. I arranged the images by the bright colors and then the goldenly brown color of trees and other foliage. I unified them by having green in every image and by taking a pictures of plants. The 11th photo is the strongest image in the Series. I used the rule of thirds in the image having the trunk of the tree to the right side of the image. As well there is plenty of positive space being the tree and negative space which is the gaps between the tree. I took the image close to the subject and the image from taken from below the subject pointing upward to the tree. I used a large depth of field to capture all the details on the tree and I used a fast shutter speed to capture the image.
